Poo Power! is a Public Engagement with Science (PES) / Informal Science Education (ISE) project expected to launch in Summer 2012/13. Funded by Inspiring Australia's 'Unlocking Australia's Potential' program, we're looking for a science communicator who can contribute to the creation and structure of the project's messaging. An ability to translate/interpret/breakdown the anaerobic methane digestion process to a wide audience is essential for use in online and social media, public events and education resources for schools. The communication and engagement plan is currently in development, however the specific messages would be around renewable energy, closed-loop waste minimisation systems, science and innovation with a little anthrozoology thrown in for good measure. Additional messages (e.g. water management) will be incorporated as more partners are confirmed. Experience in these fields or related environmental topics is highly desired. The successful applicant would also assist in the development of the communication plan so prior experience would be an advantage, but not essential.
Here's your chance to be part of a project that has gained the attention of the media and participate in a global 'movement' using dog waste as a valued resource.
For more information on the project contact the Project and Science Engagement Manager, Duncan Chew, at firstname.lastname@example.org
